New! HMO Basic Plan with One-Time Inpatient Copayment

We are pleased to announce a new plan offering to our suite of HMO products for small groups (50 or fewer eligible employees), available with effective dates beginning December 1, 2008. This plan design is also available for large groups (51 or more eligible employees).

The new HMO Basic 25 option features a one-time $1,000 copayment for inpatient services. Outpatient day surgery services will take a lower $250 copayment.

This new plan provides employer groups with an opportunity to offer a plan that increases the member’s out-of-pocket responsibility for inpatient services while limiting out-of-pocket exposure for outpatient surgery services. The $1,000 copayment applies to inpatient hospitalizations only, and the maximum member responsibility is $1,000, or one time the inpatient copayment per individual, versus the standard member responsibility of four times the inpatient copayment per individual.

*Hospital copayment maximum = $1,000; both inpatient and day surgery track to the maximum.
