Go Paperless with EOBs
Save a tree! Receive your EOBs only online.
As a Tufts Health Plan member, you now have a new option to help you manage your plan. You can now go paperless and have your explanation of benefits (EOBs) delivered only to your secure personal benefit account in our Member Resource Center. And beginning the week of February 11, all Tufts Health Plan EOBs will have a new design to provide information in a clear, member-friendly way. (Please note that if you choose to go paperless between now and the week of February 11, you may receive an EOB in the mail in the interim.)
What are EOBs?
- An EOB, or explanation of benefits, is not a bill. It's a report that provides you with useful information about how Tufts Health Plan has processed claims we have received from providers for care rendered to you: what charges were submitted to the health plan and what may be owed to a health care provider.
- Not all processed claims trigger an EOB. You receive an EOB only when we have processed claims that affect your plan's limits, such as deductibles, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums. And because EOBs indicate any financial responsibility you may have for health care services you have received, EOBs help you check the accuracy of bills from your providers.
How to go paperless
- If you are registered on our Web site: Log in to your secure personal benefit account and click on Change EOB Delivery Method under Your Coverage. Your current delivery method will be displayed and you can confirm or change your delivery method.
- If you have not already registered for access to your secure personal benefit account: Register by clicking here to Create Your Account and then activate your account with the temporary password we will send you in the mail. Just choose the paperless option at the end of the registration process.
When you receive a paperless EOB
- When an EOB is posted only to your online account, we will send you an e-mail notifying you it is ready for viewing.
- You can view and print EOBs from your account anytime by clicking on View Medical Claims and EOBs located under Your Coverage.
- Going forward, you will have online access to two years of EOBs.
