As of July 1, 2010, the state of Massachusetts requires all health plans to cover early intervention services in full. This means that members are not required to pay copayments, coinsurance, or deductible for covered services performed by an early intervention specialist.
Early intervention services include specialized health, educational, and therapeutic services designed to meet the needs of infants and toddlers, from birth until the third birthday, who have a developmental delay or disability. Services are provided by certified early intervention specialists.
